Fridge Market Ideas
The Fridge Market is a concept about thinking ahead, preparing, and controlling your food for a week on-the-go while maintaining the needs of nourishment. The focus is on the needs of a mother-to-be, a parent, or just family life in general.  We take our staple pantry items, make them in advance, portion them off in plastic to-go containers (shown), and we have access to them all week long as quick snacks (Chicken, Cauliflower and White Bean Soup), side items for dinner (Corn & Kale Salad), or building blocks for dinner (chicken stock for soup) so we are not forced to make bad food decisions due to the hustle-and-bustle of normal life. In The Fridge Market, you know every ingredient in every container whereas with a normal store bought prepared meal, you cannot be sure.

You may be asking yourself - who has the time to do this? Dad does, that's who!

When we at TSF talk about our pantry items, we're not just talking about items stored away in our closet. At TSF, we're talking about ideas and staples of easy-to-make items that are pre-made, then stored in the The Fridge Market for the week. Almost every recipe is built for, or can convert to, our standard to-go-containers.

We work with different sizes of container that we mostly source at the local dollar store or via recycling containers already purchased.  We make our own TSF labels via our mac and printer.

This is a staple building block that can be used for pasta, pizza, soup, egg, etc.  Make this once a week and keep in your fridge so you can use it on the fly.  Use the labeling system (as pictured) so that everyone knows what it is and when it was made (great for keeping parents, grandparents, nannies, et al on the same page).

Today we are building on our concept of developing a "fridge market", that is - developing a well stocked arsenal of portioned, tasty, and nutrient-packed items for easy access during the week. Today we focus on the two major nutritional categories that are a focus during pregnancy; folic acid and calcium. During your pregnancy you will need to pump up your intake of folic acid (400 micrograms per day) and calcium (1200-1500mg per day). Though you should be taking a multivitamin supplement, you should vary your intake between synthetic and natural.
